The tragic bushfires that swept through Victoria in February have seen an unprecedented outpouring of support – and MTV joined the long list of international and local artists pledging funds. 

As a gesture of support for all of those affected by the Victorian bushfires, MTV put a large proportion of tickets to The Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 on sale - with all proceeds going to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal. 

Tickets sold out in an unprecedented two weeks– and MTV was able to raise an impressive amount of money for the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.  Not only that, the VIP Packages that were auctioned last week at Grays online also managed to raise a stack load of cash – and every penny is going to supporting those who have been affected by one of Australia’s worst natural disasters.
