The Remake Award got a range of you grabbing the handycams to rethink some of the year's most classic clips. And who wouldn't want to it was your first chance every to win your very own shiny MTV Australia Award!
Competition was tight, as all sorts of creative folks got cheeky over the RTA's "Nobody Thinks Big Of You Campaign; Chris Crocker's "Leave Britney Alone" shocker; Chopper Reid/ Heath Franklin's weather report; and Ja'mie's teary telephone tirade on the first season of Aussie smash Summer Heights High.
In the end, the ultimate winner of the MTV Australia Remake Award 2008 was the classic reinterpretation of Ja'mie's teary tirade in "Ja'mie's End Of Year Shopping Spree" clip. The hilarious vid showed Ja'mie negotiating with her mother over a suspended credit card, and contained such classic phrases as "You're such a fucking hippo Mum; the last time you saw 90210 was on the fucking scales, wasn't it?"; "I'll make you a fake MySpace and set your orientation to lesbian"; and the even dramatic and memorable threat "I swear I will smash your fucking bay window with a rock mum and I'll slash my wrists with all the glass and you'll eat me, you effing cannibal." Hehehe.
William Wetheritt was the lucky mastermind, and was given his Award by glam TRL VJ Lyndsey Rodrigues and Scribe, who was still buzzing about it being the "best MTV Australia Awards ever!"
Meanwhile, Will was stoked to win the Remake Award, and said it was evidence that "obsessing over things really does pay off". Congratulations William - don't slash your wrists, just start glossing up that Award !
