It's official: pop power-twins The Veronicas are YOUR favourite exports, winning MTV Australia's coveted Australian Music Artist Award 2008 at tonight's celebration of the gritty, glam and uber-cool in Sydney's neon-lit Industrial Park. The girls, who had previously been lounging in giant spherical suspended chairs, were presented their Award by Juliette Lewis and the Licks. They thanked their fans, the band, their boyfriends, and MTV's Ruby Rose for "being really hot". Kudos!
It's been the ride of a lifetime for the sexy singers, who first dipped into public consciousness with their debut album "The Secret Life Of" and promptly went platinum four times over. Since then, they've become fixtures on both the Australian and international music scene, earning equally impressive reviews for their second album "Hook Me Up", which has already spawned two top 5 singles since its release in November last year (single "Hook Me Up" went Number One; "Untouched" peaked at Number Two on the Australian charts).
There's no doubt about it: despite now calling L.A. home, the Veronicas are doing Oz proud. MTV congratulates the Veronicas for winning the MTV Australia Music Artist Award 2008!
