P!nk's anything but dead in your eyes, with the feisty rock goddess scoring the top votes for MTV Australia's 2008 Live Performer Award. She thrashed contenders in the form of Justin Timberlake's "FutureSex/ LoveShow" Tour; Foo Fighters "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace" Tour; Lupe Fiasco's 2007 Snow Jam appearance; and Juliette & The Licks whip-up of MTV's the Lair; to charm the pants off you guys, even when she spent most of her time on stage without them (just a leotard with fishnets would do!)
The Australian leg of the "I'm Not Dead" Tour was only a small part of the total world deal, which covered 187 shows in just under 15 months, stretching from Chicago to Milan and all stops in between. Perth held the honours of being the first Aussie's to catch the rosy revver in action, with stunned audiences citing her acrobatics, outlandish costumes, attitude and acoustic sets as just some of the amazing aspects of her show.
During the sets, P!nk performed songs including Get The Party Started, U And Ur Hand, God Is A DJ and Stupid Girls. There was something for everyone on stage, including burlesque-style costumes, and acrobatics by P!nk on suspended motorbikes and nets. She also performed at last year's Australian MTV Video Music Awards, where she was raised above the stage on pink silk cords, and exited in a shower of glitter.
P!nk accepted her award by videocam, after being announced by Brit sensations Leona Lewis and Brian McFadden. Given that this was P!nk's first tour of Australia in three years, we can only hope she warms the motors and jumps back on antipodean stages sometime soon. In the meantime, congrats for being MTV Australia's Live Performer 2008!
