Pete Pete Wentz To Host The Vodafone MTVAAs 2009!Pete's The Host With The MostIn a surprise announcement at Sunday's
Xbox party,
Pete Wentz excitedly let slip that he would be returning to Sydney to host the
Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 on
March 27!When interviewed by MTV's very own
Maz Compton for her show on
Nova, Pete exclaimed... "I just found out,". . "I'm very excited."
So contrary to all the rumours floating around on the web,
Pete Wentz is obviously alive and well. He even told us so when he co-hosted the nomination announcement for the
Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 last week at MTV HQ.
In response to internet speculation he had died, the
Fall Out Boy rocker said "I just want to make the announcement that it's not true. I apologise to the lovely commenters on PerezHilton.com that I am still alive and breathing!"
Having hosted the pre-show for
MTV Movie Awards 2006, Pete said his favourite part of these events is "getting to hang out with a lot of other bands, heroes, enemies. Doing the red carpet is always pretty cool, with the fans shouting."
"Taking part in the
MTV Awards nominations launch last week was a blast, and being MTV family, hosting the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 will give me the perfect excuse to come back to this spectacular country and for an even bigger party!"
Joining Wentz on the
Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 bill will be performers
The Killers, Kings Of Leon (via satellite from
TSB Arena, Wellington NZ) and Adelaide's
Sia.
The Hills' cast member and 'It Girl',
Audrina Patridge will host the
'Red Carpet Vodafone MTV Awards', which you can check out online. Make sure your locked to

Fall Out Boy, who are nominated for Best Rock Video, are currently in New Zealand and will head to Europe later this week.
Wentz joins previous hosts of the
Australian MTV Awards including
Wyclef Jean (2008),
Fergie and
Good Charlotte (2007), wife
Ashlee Simpson (2006) and
The Osbournes (2005).
The Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 will broadcast live from the
Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre,
Darling Harbour, on
MTV Australia,
Friday March 27, 7:30pm (AEDT)
