The mtv australia Awards 2008 Are Coming!Rock and roll is all about rule-breaking, and so it figures that the glitz and glamour of traditional awards needed some serious turning on its head here at MTV. After last year’s descent of Pink on silk ropes in a shower of glitter, we’ve decided to leave the bling to the ARIA Awards in November, and stick to what we know best.
And that is? Only totally mindblowingly, expectation-breaking, fantastic-on-a-grand scale Awards…in a way that is totally urban, totally uber-chic, and totally now!
Recognising that MTV gives you not only the greatest music, but impacts on all areas of your life, the brand new awards have been given a buzzcut and revamped with brand new categories that give a big old hug to all the areas of life that make 2008 so great.
Of the 10 categories hotting up your screens, 5 will still be music related: Best International Act, Best Aussie Act, Best Kiwi Act, Music Video Of the Year and Best Live Performer.
But on top of that, we’ve jumped right out of the bunker with Best Sportsperson, Best Movie Star, Best Television Moment, Good Karma Award (there’ll also be a Bad Karma Award… but we’re not counting on anyone coming to grab this one from our hot little hands!), and a Remake Award.
The Remake Award gives you guys the chance to send us your own version of a headline-grabbing clip chosen by us – that is, if you get the votes, you’ll win an MTV Award. Personally!
Apart from the Best International Act, Best Sportsperson and Best Movie Star Award, which will be decided by MTV, all other category winners will be decided by you, with voting commencing on this very site from Tuesday 12th March.
This year’s Awards are going to be held at the incredible industrial bunker of the Australian Technology Park, so your experience is sure to be as uber-chic and urban as you’d never expect from an Annual awards.
The MTV AUSTRALIA AWARDS 2008 will air live and exclusively on MTV Australia Saturday April 26, so keep glued to the website for more details.
