WHO’S UP FOR THE MTV AUSTRALIA AWARDS?

WE NAME THE NOMINEES TO STAND BESIDE YOU!

A change is coming… and it’s called the MTV Australia Awards 2008. We’re scrapping the old award show formula. We’re retiring Pete the Platypus and even giving you a shot at the new statue. But before you start remaking, check out who could be your fellow nominees!

The nominees for Music Video of the Year had the coolest clips on the box. So will Fergie take home the prize for “Clumsy” or Mika for “Happy Ending”? Other serious contenders for the crown include 50 Cent Featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland in “Ayo Technology”, Delta Goodrem for “Believe Again” and the Foo Fighters for “The Pretender”.

Nominees for this year’s Australian Artist Award are Sneaky Sound System, Silverchair, , The Veronicas and Operator Please.  Meanwhile, across the ditch, we’re recognising one of Opshop, Scribe, The Mint Chicks, Atlas and The Checks for this year’s New Zealand Artist Award.

Did the Foo Fighters “Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace” tour blow your mind? How about Justin Timberlake’s “FutureSex/ LoveShow” or P!nk’s “I’m Not Dead” tour? Was Lupe Fiasco’s cooler-than-cool appearance at MTV’s Snow Jam, or Juliette & The Licks tearing up The Lair, worthy of the Best Live Performer Award? The competition for the most freakin’ wild performance is sure to be an exciting one.

Now onto the Best Television Moment Of The Year.These clips defined our prime time, and then our online viewing, emailcirculation and watercooler conversation. So it’s time for all couchpotatoes to unite, and decide what takes the grand potato chip! Choosebetween the Chaser at APEC, Corey Worthington on ACA, Jake Brown’s X Games stack and stand, Vanessa’s literal Shot at Love (a.k.a. “scrag fight”) over Tila, and Snoop’s citzenship plea.

Then free your mind and recognise some of the groups and initiativesthat must have attracted some pretty Good Karma over the last 12 months. From Bliss n Eso’s trip to South Africa, to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s efforts in saving the whales; from Earth Hour’s steps to redress climate change, to Movember silliness raising awareness of men’s health issues; and not to forget the young people of Australia’s willingness to believe that saying “Sorry” was worth voting for, every one’s a winner, but only one will get your vote for the MTV Good Karma Award.

We’re pretty sure no one is going to show up to receive the Bad Karma Award,so we’re taking the opportunity to grind some axes and have a goodlaugh at everyone (or the one person!) that had a shocker this year.This is definitely an Award to watch out for.

It’s been a big year for the biggest stars of TV, sport, music andmovies. It was hard to narrow the field to just 5 in each category, andit’ll be even harder for you and MTV to decide who deserves to takehome the first MTVAAs. But rise to the challenge!
