JESSICA MAUBOY SET TO PERFORM ON A 'WORLD STAGE' AT VODAFONE MTVAAS

She's come a long way since her first performance to a small crowd in outback Darwin, but now Jessica Mauboy will have a much larger audience as she takes to the stage to perform at the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009!

The 19 year old one-time Idol alum has not only forged a successful solo career and delivered the hottest local RnB album of the year, she also helped fix the media spotlight squarely on the fledging Australian urban scene.

Her chart smashing single 'Running Back', featuring international hip hop star Flo Rida, proved to the nation that she was an artist to watch, while her follow up single 'Burn' topped the ARIA Singles Chart and the iTunes Singles Chart, proving this NT beauty is no one hit wonder.   Mauboy's new single, 'Been Waiting', is already a huge radio hit and is set to hit stores on March 13, 2009.

This year's Awards will be broadcast as part of MTV's 'World Stage', an international program that sees the same live music performance(s) aired in the same timeslot, on the same day, across 62 MTV channels globally.  So not only will Jess perform live to a crowd of screaming fans in Australia, millions across the world will be introduced to her unique RnB stylings!

"I am so excited about performing at the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards in Sydney, especially as it will now be broadcast all around the world!", said Mauboy. "It will be amazing to perform alongside acts such as The Killers and to show the world what Aussie music is all about!"

Jessica Mauboy will join performers The Fray, The Killers, Kings Of Leon (via satellite) and Adelaide's Sia. Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz will host this year's show, while The Hills cast member and 'It Girl', Audrina Patridge, will host the 'The Red Carpet At The Vodafone MTV Australia Awards'.

The Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 will broadcast live from the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, on MTV Australia, Friday March 27, 7:30pm (AEDT) Red Carpet, 8:30pm (AEDT) main show. Encore screening on FOX8 Sunday April 5 @ 10:00pm
